  ÖPVC-BLUE-FCY for intrinsically safe systems, with Cu screen Protection class i according to VDE 0165, blue sheath
     
     




Applications

These screened PVC-insulated control cables with blue outer sheath are exclusively used for intrinsically safe systems in instrumentation and control engineering as pulse and data transmission cables as well as connecting cables for public address and two-way intercom systems where high-frequency interference can occur. The overall braided screen, consisting of tinned copper wires with a visible coverage of approx. 85%, provides protection against external pulses and assures an interference-free transmission. These cables with special identification meet the requirements of VDE 0165 Section 6.1.3.2.3 in protection class i and are only used for intrinsically safe electric circuits.
In protection class i , the power in the electric circuit id low such that no igniting sparks, arcs or higher temperatures can occur. These cables are not suitable for underground installation.

Notes
In intrinsically safe electric circuits, only insulated cables may be used with a test voltage of conductor to conductor and conductor to earth of minimum 500 V AC.
These cables and wires designated blue may not be used for other applications.
For reasons of safety and functionality, intrinsically safe electric circuits must be earthed, if required. This earthing may only be made at one position by connection with the equipotential bonding, refer also to VDE 0165 Section 6.1.3.3
When installing systems with intrinsically safe electric circuits, it shall be observed that outside electrical or magnetic fields do not impair the intrinsic safety, which can be realised by the use of screened and/or twisted cables or by maintaining a sufficiently large distance in the spacing.
